Delete m3u Files

This script will locate .m3u files ("Internet Audio Playlists") and allow you to select which ones you'd like to delete. Requires Mac OS 10.4 or better; your system should be indexed with Spotlight.

? I am an eMusic user and Previews from their collection come down as .m3u files. After a lot of previewing, these .m3u's tend to pile up. This script is a simple way of removing them.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a correlation between specific ".m3u" files and their associated tracks in iTunes. So you may also wish to try the script Delete 'Continuous' Tracks which removes tracks in iTunes of the kind "MPEG audio stream", which are tracks associated with the ".m3u" files.

Bring Out Yer Dead v1.1

This script applet will allow you to select a "dead" file track in iTunes (designated with the (!)) and attempt to locate a file using Spotlight that corresponds to the selected track's Song Name, Artist, and Album, and then allow you to replace the "dead track" with a file from the search results. All tag data is preserved from the original track selected and copied to the newly added track.

Note: I consider this script to be just an experiment using Spotlight technology. iTunes already has the ability to try to locate disassociated files when you double-click a "dead track". Use with caution, see the "Read Me".

If you use Kevin Wojniak's Spodlight to index your iPod, Bring Out Yer Dead can copy a file from iPod if found.

(Also see the application Music Folder Files Not Added.)

These scripts are based on Move Files to Folder... by Plaidcow Solutions.
